Introduction
A list of potential programs and projects has been developed to help guide the use of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds as part of a future spending plan
. Residents, businesses, and community organizations are being asked to provide feedback about their priorities for the use of these funds.
This is one-time money to improve quality of life in the Alexandria, for our immediate recovery needs and as a long-term investment for tomorrow.
As of now, the federal funding requirements dictate that programs and projects must:
- Respond to the public health emergency or its negative economic impacts to residents and businesses;
- Compensate for revenue reductions due to COVID-19;
- Or, support infrastructure projects related to water, sewer, or broadband.
- Be spent by December 31, 2024.
An essential step in this process is to hear from
you. Please take five minutes to complete the survey below and let us know your priorities for spending these funds in the community.
The feedback will be used to inform a two-part draft spending plan. A second survey will be conducted in June to ask for input on the plan. The Alexandria City Council will consider this spending plan at their legislative meeting on July 6, 2021.
Note: Because the Alexandria City Public Schools will receive a separate allocation of federal funding, school projects will not considered under this City process
