Join the Public Health Influencers!
Want to make a difference in your community? Are you known for funny or creative social media posts?
Alexandria Health Department is seeking residents ages 14-29 to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Public Health Influencers will educate and motivate peers about preventing the spread of illness. Using social media, innovative Influencers will write and produce content that promotes safe, healthy behaviors and relationships.
Help us create health and safety messages that will inform and inspire young people in Alexandria to take precautions and follow guidelines related to COVID-19 (hand washing, use of hand sanitizer, physical distancing, mask usage). Use of social media will be the primary source of communication (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.).
- Spend 1-3 hours a week drafting content.
- Spend 2 hours a month participating in a brainstorming session about new COVID-19 related issues for high schoolers and young adults, and what messages resonate with you about these issues.
What’s in it for you:
- Make a difference in your community promoting positive health behaviors and choices that could potentially save the lives of your peers, family members and those in the community.
- Gain work experience writing communications with the Alexandria Health Department
- Receive constructive feedback from experienced City Communications professionals.
- Develop your communications portfolio by showcasing your content that is used in City COVID-19 ads.
